News NASCAR Driver Brandon Gdovic Debuts in Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo
Yorktown, VA/April 28, 2015 – Brandon Gdovic will be making his series debut in the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series in his #46 American Messaging Services/ComServe Verizon Wireless Gallardo this weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Gdovic, who has an extensive background in stock car racing, and earlier this month made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at Texas Motor Speedway, has taken a different path than most to get there.
Brandon has been successful in any car he’s been behind the wheel of in the stock car world, and then all the sudden he decided to put a right turn in his driving career, literally! It was actually stock car racing that put Brandon in the mindset of making a move over to sports cars to add to his racing resume and to complete his 2015 race schedule. “I knew I liked road racing from the first lap I made at Virginia International Raceway in 2013 with NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series East, and can’t wait for my first steps in this new side of the racing world” states Brandon.
This will be Gdovic’s first foray into sports cars, but he’s signed on with the 2014 Series Championship winning Mitchum Motorsports to smooth out the transition. Mitchum Motorsports fielded three Gallardo’s in the 2014 season, and all three of their cars found Victory Circle en route to their championship, which was won in the final race of the season at Road Atlanta. Both the driver and the teams’ goals for the season are aligned, which for Mitchum Motorsports is to repeat as Champions, and for Gdovic to play a strong role to get them there. Of the opportunity Brandon states; “I’m excited for the first Super Trofeo race to finally be here. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while, and am eager to take on the challenges of the sports car world.”
The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season kicks off at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with practice on May 1st at 11:45 am EST. Qualifying will take place on May 2nd at 11:00 am EST with the first race at 12:40 pm EST. The second race of the weekend will take place on May 3rd at 1:15 pm EST.
