Brandon Gdovic, No. 38 ORECA FLM09
Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona at Daytona International Speedway
No. 38 ORECA FLM09… Brandon Gdovic, NASCAR XFINITY Series’ driver and reigning Lamborghini Gallardo World Champion, is joining the Performance Tech Motorsports’ driver lineup for the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona at the Daytona International Speedway January 30-31, 2016. Gdovic will be piloting the No. 38 ORECA FLM09 sponsored by ComServe Wireless and WindStax Wind Power Systems in the Prototype Challenge class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Series. A 6.2-liter Chevrolet LS3 430 HP V8 engine powers the 2000-pound ORECA FLM09.
Elite Team… Gdovic completes a championship-caliber roster that includes fresh talent James French and Josh Norman, and 2013 Rolex 24 Hours winner Jim Norman. French, a veteran of Performance Tech Motorsports, has competed in the Prototype Challenge series since 2011. Jim Norman has experience in the IMSA GT3 Challenge, GRAND-AM Rolex Series, American Le Mans Series, North American Endurance Cup and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series, where he’s picked up several championships and numerous wins and podium finishes. Josh Norman has a background competing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series.
First Timer … The Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona will mark Gdovic’s first time competing in a Prototype Challenge car. Gdovic, though, is no stranger to success on road courses. He is fresh off the heels of a debut Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series season that far exceeded expectations. In just 13 starts, Gdovic won top amateur honors 10 times, securing the North American Amateur Championship and advancing through to win the Gallardo World Championship. He juggled sports car racing with stock car racing seamlessly, competing in three NASCAR XFINITY Series races in which he posted a career-best 13th-place finish at Watkins Glen International. Gdovic has also found success is the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.
Catch the Action… Saturday, January 30th coverage of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona will air from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1 and from 4 p.m.-10p.m. ET on Fox Sports 2. Brandon Gdovic Quotes:
“I’m really looking forward to competing in such a prestigious race and I am excited for the challenge of my first endurance race. It was good to get a chance to do some testing before the race and get a feel for the car and learn more about the race with the team. We have a good group of guys on the team that I believe can take us to a podium finish if we stay out of trouble and have a clean race. I would like to thank my sponsors ComServe Wireless and WindStax for their support and Mr. O’Neill and Performance Tech Motorsports for giving me this opportunity.”
