Gdovic To Run Three-Series Racing Gauntlet in Dubai
China Grove, NC (January 4, 2017) – Hot off of a successful NASCAR XFINITY and Lamborghini Super Trofeo season in 2016, Brandon Gdovic is headed to the Dubai Autodrome in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from January 10-15 to get warmed up for 2017. While in Dubai, Brandon will compete in three different series in three different racecars; all culminating in the Middle East’s premiere endurance race, the 24 Hours of Dubai.
Brandon’s race weekend starts on Tuesday with the 24h Proto Series’ free practice at 9am local, 12am EST, in the Ginetta G57 LMP3 (Le Mans Prototype 3), that has swapped the spec V8 engine for a bigger, badder Chevrolet LS3. This series features three different three-hour races.
The TCR Middle East is a brand-new series extending the successful and popular international TCR racing format. Brandon will contest this new series as the first and only American in these front-wheel drive touring cars in the desert. He will be driving a 330hp Volkswagen Golf TCR, powered by the same 2.0L turbo engine as the road car. TCR cars are factory built and known worldwide for their fender-to-fender racing, which will feel like home to a NASCAR driver.
On top of these two commitments, the Hankook 24 Hours at Dubai will see Brandon participate in the punishing 24-hour road race as one of four drivers in a Ginetta G55 GT4, powered by a 355-hp Ford 3.7L V6. The twice ‘round-the-clock action occurs on a 5.39km, 15-turn track of the Dubai Autodrome. Racing begins Friday at 2pm local (5am EST) and runs until 2pm local Saturday.
Gdovic will have a five day three-series schedule packed to the brim – so packed that he’ll be powered by both Chevrolet and Ford during the week! Brandon is known internationally for his ability to excel in any form of auto racing and will put these skills to task during this week of competition. He relishes the challenge of conquering three new racecars.
“I’m excited to be heading back overseas to Dubai for a big week of firsts for me,” said Gdovic, “It will be my first time racing in Dubai as well as my first time in all three of the cars I’ll be driving. I learned so much about endurance racing last season in the 24 Hours of Daytona and I look forward to putting that experience into practice.”
For the 24h Series and 24h Proto Series, Gdovic will be racing with CWS Racing out of Somerset, Great Brittan. In the TCR Middle East series, he will be with Liqui Moly Team Engstler out of Wigginsbach, Germany. Both teams have a long history of success with CWS Racing placing second in the 24 Hours at Dubai in the SP3 (GT4) class in 2016; and Liqui Moly Team Engstler is the current TCR Asia Champions and stalwarts of the TCR International Series.
Liqui Moly serves as primary sponsor of Gdovic’s Volkswagen Golf TCR. With around 4,000 items, Liqui Moly offers a global, uniquely broad range of automotive chemicals: Motor oils and additives, greases, and car care. Founded in 1957, Liqui Moly develops and produces exclusively in Germany, products that are sold in more than 120 countries.
The Hankook 24 Hours at Dubai and its accompanying events will be broadcast live online January 10-15, 2017. Follow along for all the racing action on RadioLeMans.com and 24HSeries.com.
