Gdovic Looks to Defend Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Champion Title at Circuit Valencia
China Grove, N.C. (November 29, 2016) – Brandon Gdovic returns to Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain to defend his U.S. and World Champion titles in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series. Piloting the No. 46 ComServe Wireless Lamborghini Huracan for DAC Motorsports, Gdovic looks to capitalize on a successful 2016 season by adding two more division wins to his impressive season in preparation for the World Final events.
Gdovic, who cut his teeth on oval racing in NASCAR, debuted in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series in 2015. The 24-year-old exceeded expectations throughout his inaugural season beginning with a class win in his first race and ending with Gdovic not only taking the top Amateur honors in North America with eight wins, but also taking the overall World Title in the Gallardo class, besting the Amateur, Pro-Amateurs, and Pro drivers in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series.
Gdovic graduated from the Amateur to Pro-Am division in the 2016 Super Trofeo Series season and proved up to the challenge of competing against seasoned sports car racing veterans. With podium finishes in the majority of races, he sits comfortably in second place in the driver points standings. Gdovic is looking to add to his already impressive season at Circuit Valencia and expects to end the 12-race schedule on a high note, punctuated by both U.S. and World Final Championships.
Gdovic is no stranger to the 2.5-mile, 14-turn road course of Circuit Valencia. The Virginia-native found time in his IMSA and NASCAR schedules to travel to Europe to participate in NASCAR Whelen Euro Series’ Valencia NASCAR Fest, where he raced against some of the best stock car drivers on the continent. He hopes this experience will give him an advantage over his competitors.
“I am looking forward to a big weekend at Circuit Valencia with a busy four-race schedule, including the two World Finals races,” said Gdovic. “I am excited to see what I can do against the European and Asian teams and hope to have a good showing. I am sad to see the season coming to an end, but I enjoyed the experience and continue to learn and grow in the sports car racing arena.”
The Super Trofeo Series U.S. finale qualifying is Thursday, December 1st at 9:40am ET, with Race 1 Friday, December 2nd at 2:50am ET and Race 2 at 7:35am ET. World Finals qualifying is Saturday December 3rd at at 4:20am ET with Race 1 at 8:15am ET. Race 2 of the World Finals is Sunday, December 4th at 5:30am ET.
