Brandon Gdovic kicked the 2016 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season off on a high note finishing on the podium in Race 1 of the North American Championship. 2015 Lamborghini Gallardo World Champion Gdovic joined the Super Trofeo field in transitioning to a Huracan as they became a true one-make one-model series at the onset of 2016. But he didn’t skip a beat, finding speed capable of passing eleven competitors throughout the 50-minute race. Gdovic finished the event fifth overall and third in the Pro-Am division.

Gdovic returned to the series which garnered him much success, competing for DAC Motorsports in the season-opener at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. He was a quick study of the Lamborghini Huracans in Thursday’s two scheduled practice sessions and prepared to lay his best lap times in Super Trofeo qualifying. As the qualifying session got underway, Gdovic hung back in preparation of turning his fast lap. Unfortunately, a competitor lost control of his Lamborghini, spinning off course and bringing out the red flag that would end the session early and freeze the starting order of Race 1 of the North American Championship. Luckily, Gdovic relishes such a challenge and used the 17^th-place starting position to show the Super Trofeo field what he was capable of, passing competitor after competitor on his way to a third-place Pro-Am finish.
