Brandon Gdovic to co-drive with Ashley Freiberg at VIR in Lamborghini Super Trofeo
China Grove, N.C. (August 25, 2017) – Brandon Gdovic will share driving duties with top female Lamborghini Super Trofeo Pro driver Ashley Freiberg for rounds 7 and 8 at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) August 26th-27th driving for DAC Motorsports.
The Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series is traveling southeast to VIR to kick-off the second half of its exciting 2017 season on the scenic and fan-friendly 17-turn, 3.27-mile road course in Alton, Virginia.
A perennial favorite with drivers, teams and fans, VIR is the only track to host the series in all five of its North American seasons. Repaved in 2014, the circuit is one of the most beautiful road courses in North America and well-suited to the Huracán Super Trofeo car.
Gdovic splits from his Precision Performance Motorsports (PPM) NASCAR Xfinity team this week, putting Parker Kligerman in the seat for this weekend’s NASCAR race at Road America. Gdovic completes a championship-caliber DAC roster that includes Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America series regulars Emmanuel Anassis, Patrice Brisebois, and Todd Snyder. Gdovic and Freiberg have raced with this team of drivers throughout the 2017 Super Trofeo season with Gdovic also joining the team for the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona.
Ashley is back in the seat after two 3rd place finishes in rounds 5 and 6 earlier this month at Road America and is looking for the top step on the podium this weekend with Gdovic sharing the Pro seat. Freiberg is in the points hunt for the Pro category for DAC Motorsports representing Lamborghini Palm Beach. Freiberg made history earlier this season at Watkins Glen International, becoming the first woman to stand on the overall podium of any of Lamborghini’s worldwide Super Trofeo series. She has been in contention and on the podium all season and is only 19 points behind the championship leaders.
Catch The Action…The series competitors will enjoy two 50-minute races at VIR. Race 1 is scheduled to start at 4:40 p.m. (ET) Saturday, Aug. 26. Race 2 will start at 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27. Two practices will take place Friday, followed by a double qualifying session Saturday morning at 10:05 a.m. Both races will be live streamed at imsa.tv.com. Timing and scoring is live at scoring.imsa.com. Tape-delayed coverage of each event will air on CBS Sports Network in primetime.
Gdovic Quotes…“I am looking forward to heading to my home track” said Gdovic. “I was happy with the speed we had in testing and hope it shows this weekend. I’m also excited to be co driving with Ashley Freiberg this weekend in a Pro/Pro entry and hope to go for an overall win.”
